Waxing Negative; The Communion LIVE on My Castle of Quiet, 10.8.10

5 In terms of "heavy music," "black metal," "dark hardcore," or whatever labels one needs to put upon things to feel at ease, The Communion are indeed a very special find. I might never have seen them, had I not wandered into the Party Expo this past July, right around the corner from my former domicile in now-so-fashionable Bushwick.

No-faking, gut-churning angst, great songwriting, and an obvious interest in creating something of quality and sincerity are what set The Communion apart from the horde of bands that lean toward the darker sides of self expression. Dramatic, hooky sludge-metal, classic hardcore/thrash, and hi-speed black metal are all easily referenced in The Communion's repertoire, these styles employed naturally and with the apparent ease of just doing what they do, without sounding at all forced or postmodern.

These are some great tracks—catchy, headbanging and deftly constructed. I've been spinning them constantly for the last week and a half, and suggest you do the same.

Thanks Again, everyone at My Caste of Quiet. check it out everyone.

Cattle Aphrodisac/Surprise! Incest.

- in two days we'll be doing our first live radio broadcast @

it's W.M Berger presents My Caste of Quiet, perhaps the last bastion of true underground music on the radio. not talking about the occasional Cannibal Corpse or Suffocation song wedged between a everflowing stream of middle-of-the-road melodic metal piss that masquerades as an source for "underground" music , just 3 hours of the purest noise, the most savage metal, and the ugliest 'cores imaginable, with some creepy film scores thrown in for good measure.

- our next show will be October 29th:

Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire

both CTTTOAFF and Flourishing released some of the best music you've heard all year. Dissonance can never die.

- in the mean time we've been building a new practice space and working on two new songs; "Marble Husk" and "Manacles", as well as looking through DVDs of the west coast tour; hours of footage that we may distill into a DVD release of some sort in the future. also before the year is over we'd like to wrap up the recordings we did just before Lee's passing and have that out... so don't expect any 3 day weekends from us for the time being, just the occasional pop-up. you're probably sick of us anyway. *shrug*

- SWANS on Saturday. the new record is bliss.
