-weekend shows went very well. most of the bands were solid (BLOODKITT is my new favorite band btw) and things ran fairly smooth. Jimmy and I even got in on some gang-vocals for upcoming UNMEN recordings, including a cover of "Kill Yourself" by S.O.D. big gay thanks to all who made it happen.

- no more shows in 2009. this was hands down our best year for shows in terms of performance consistency. i only wish more people came out to see us, cause we've been at our best... maybe next year.

- this weekend is recording. no shows until January 23rd when we play Beery's on Long Island. flyer later this week.

- weekend playlist for the road: Alice in Chains - Dirt, MC Search, Rwake - If You Walk Before You Crawl, You Crawl Before You Die, Godflesh - Pure, Vito Corleone, Lords of Brookln, Soilent Green - Confrontation, Jesus Lizard - Goat, Zeni Geva - Desire for Agony, Catheter - discography of 7"

- Something's up for the Spring of 2010... i don't wanna jinx it, but it rhymes with the title of this post. More later.

- Tonight it's EYEHATEGOD, GOATWHORE, and PIG DESTROYER on a boat. the first 100 people who mention that SNL sketch will be Super-Soakered with Kerosene and stoned to death with flaming bottles of everclear. The next 100 will have a gas mask with tumb tacks driven into it strapped tightly to their heads, which will be connected to a six foot tube that itself has been strapped to an overweight Dragonforce fan's ass, who will procced to blow buffalo chicken egg diarhea farts up the tube and into the mask.

- Devil's Night show in less than a Week. Long December Weekend in a little less than 6 weeks. More recording. More writing. then more shows.

MDF 2010: Our Mix-Tapes come to Pass

it's true, everyone... we can finally announce that we will be performing at MDF 2010 in May.

MDF 2004 was the catalyst for me joining the Communion that summer, so this is sort of a poetic moment that all too rare these days. we will be sharing the stage with some of our absolute favorite bands, some of which are in fact our biggest influences.

Blood Duster, The Communion, others added to MDF 8

"Blood Duster, Trap Them, Circle of Dead Children, Total Fucking Destruction, Jucifer, Malignancy, Defeatist, Surroundings, Rottenness, The Communion confirmed for MDF 2010. 1, possibly 2 more "headliner" type bands will be announced in the coming months, and that will be the end of the booking process."

- before all that, we've got the Devil's Night Show @ the Rock Star Bar w/ DIABLERO, SARLACC, BLOOD OF A ZOMBIE, SHIRO ISHI, and I SAY FUCK. than in early December we've got a three-day weekend with the likes of BACTERIA, UNMEN, BUCKSHOT FACELIFT, BLOODKITT, and others. we'll be taking a break from shows at some point to continue the recordings, and then we might have another jaunt in us before we head off to MDF, but more on that when there is more on that.

The Cotard delusion or Cotard's syndrome, also known as nihilistic or negation delusion, is a rare neuropsychiatric disorder in which a person holds a delusional belief that they are dead, do not exist, are putrefying, or have lost their blood or internal organs. Rarely, it can include delusions of immortality.The syndrome is named after Jules Cotard[1] (1840–1889), a French neurologist[2] who first described the condition, which he called le délire de négation ("negation delirium"), in a lecture in Paris in 1880. He described the syndrome as having degrees of severity that range from mild to severe. Despair and self-loathing characterize a mild state. Someone suffering the severe state begins to deny the very existence of the self.

"Life in a bottle is better than the Life you're offering me."

- shows went well. thanks to all the bands who played, people who came out, so forth.

- recording this week.

- next show is a week from Friday @ Rockstar Bar w/ WEEKEND NACHOS, UNMEN, and BUCKSHOT FACELIFT. 2 days later at the same location i'll be doing guest vocals for the mighty DISASSOCIATE at the Drunx Pinic gig.

- song that only exist in lyrics form; "CONGRUENT BIOCIDE".

this is a song i wrote about the subject of "bug chasers". for those who don't know; Bug Chasers are homosexual men who seek out HIV Infected partners (called "gift givers") in hopes of infecting themselves with the virus. It is not a political song. It does not condone or condemn such activities. it is not homophobic, or judgmental in any other way. it is about individuals who are on the fringe of society wanting to be part of something so desperately that the idea of a slow painful death seems like the only way they can achieve any sort of comradery. It is about people whose illness is coveted, and the empowerment they feel in the light of someone actually wanting what many have told them is a curse brought upon by there lifestyle and/or their nature. it's merely a subject that got me typing, and this is what came out of it;

Intravenous siphon. Convinced that martyring fashions will align them with Stalag angels, as if they volunteered holocaustic accessions. “Talk is all I want”. Waking thoughts of stalking bugs. Converted complacency to future shocks painting current screams. Gift baskets of walled-in cockroach legs and abdomens. The black market equivalent of trial / error / acceptance. Gunned down immune network. Antimicrobial resin tongued suggestively before being cupped by shallow ends. Lunged out of passivity once presents come of disease. Oxygen-entombed are no longer sidling. No longer webbed in specters, once-knotted veins are now docking. In the afterward, they are all just painfully waiting.

- shows this weekend were pretty good, Sunday in Jersey being the obvious highlight. great crowd. great bands. unfairly hot girls. jaunt ended a little over 24 hours ago. it was all kinds of a blast. big thanks to the characters in TRANSIENT for blowing our minds night in and night out with some razor-wire high knife grind that's tighter than a child's anus pre last Thursday. They were also about the nicest bunch of people we've ever met.

Thanks to all the cool bands/promoters who complimented us/set us up with food and lodging/just all around kicked ass; the Corpse Fortress, LOST AGAIN, DIABLERO (maybe the best discovery of the whole tour for me), Kat and SALOME, everyone from Philly, the people who came out in Boston, Jeremy from LECHEROUS NOCTURNE, and of course ourselves.

the rest of the summer is a bit light for us in the show department. July 11 and August 22 we'll be a Rockstar Bar with a lot of real awesome bands. mostly though we'll be writing and recording our first stuff with Joeside in Vein on drums. should be some solid tunage.

- i'll blog about the next shows soon. or just check us on Myspace for flyers and the like.

- AAF and the Aftershow might have been the best we've played ever. to bad only like 8 people saw us. but hey, eating sponge-wax bar pizza and talking about Facebook pages is just as cool, too. Thanks to those few of you who did check us out.

these were our first shows w/ Joe In Vein on drums. This may sound gay, but Joe's drums are the best thing to happen to this band since Harsh Noise, Japanese Cinema, and Sasha Grey.

- Highlights of the No Fun/AAFest weekend; BASTARD NOISE, DEAD INFECTION, SPLITTER, PIGSTY, SAYYADINA, KILL THE CLIENT, COPREMESIS, SULACO, Free CASTEVET 7 inch, catching up w/ one of the few decent people i knew in High School, paying less than 20 bucks for 2 SICKNESS albums, American tour version of the new PIGSTY album, the Haunted Hotel Distro.

- Lowlights: $12 Dollars for a Waffle and 2 Eggs, Blockheaded Dike-Men CHUDs and their ill-deserved sense of accomplishment, 8 dollars for a 6" Fake Philly Cheese Steak, Everything else about No Fun Fest (especially when MELVINS and JOHN FUCKING ZORN both played that night, and i missed them to see video game techno and old man noise), the Other distros.

- i'm still kind of out of it, so forgive the lack of comprehensive reviewing on my part. be back soon with a more full update.

- practices have been going extremely smooth. here are the songs we've pretty much gotten down;

here's the ones we've started to get down;

and finally, the ones we haven't played yet, but are planning on getting down;

maybe "TARANTULA KITCHEN" (if only for recording purposes)

that's as far as we're going with songs that are already written. we might be retiring a couple of songs, cause we're tired of some of this shit and we wanna make the most of this new line-up, and the best way to do that is compose new songs together.

that being said; we've got more than enough material for a set, and we'll be recording most if not all of it this coming summer for assorted splits and compilations. you can find out all the info on Nom De Plume Records.

- what is Nom De Plume Records, you ask? why it is none other than Lee and Jimmy's label, which will specialize in ugliness i'm sure. give it a look and add them.

What I really lack is to be clear in my mind what I am to do, not what I am to know, except in so far as a certain knowledge must precede every action. The thing is to understand myself, to see what God really wishes me to do: the thing is to find a truth which is true for me, to find the idea for which I can live and die. ... I certainly do not deny that I still recognize an imperative of knowledge and that through it one can work upon men, but it must be taken up into my life, and that is what I now recognize as the most important thing.

Rabbit Eggs

- next shit is May 16th, as seen above. We'll be taking part in an underground metal rite of passage; opening up a crowded fest.

seriously though, we're psyched and looking forward to checking out a good bulk of the bands. DEAD INFECTION and SAYYADINA have been on my playlist fairly regularly for the last few years, and that's the day we're playing, so that's pretty badass.

this will be our first show with Joe on the drums, and if the recent practice/jam sessions we've had with him in the past few weeks are any indication, we should be at the top of our game come Auditory Assault. We'll have a solid set of mostly new material... and we'll more than likely have the split 7 inch in our possesion by that time, and some new t-shirts.

- also in the works for the start of the summer is a small tour with the crazy awesome TRANSIENT. go to our Myspace for the dates and to check out TRANSIENT in our top friends.

- that's all. Merry Rabbit Egg Day.

"So shall we come to look at the world with new eyes. It shall answer the endless inquiry of the intellect, — What is truth? and of the affections, — What is good? by yielding itself passive to the educated Will. ... Build, therefore, your own world. As fast as you conform your life to the pure idea in your mind, that will unfold its great proportions. A correspondent revolution in things will attend the influx of the spirit."

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Saturday, March 21, 2009

- so the drummer search has ended. we're pleased to announce that the one and only Joe of DARKSIDE NYC and DISASSOCIATE will be battering the flesh for us. this makes us happy, cause Joe's a cool dude, an awesome drummer, and he's associated with 2 of our favorite bands ever.

- next show is April the 10th @ Mr. Beery's w/ BLACK ANVIL and DISNIHIL. some other stuff is getting prepared for later this spring/early summer show wise, so we'll be back with the information when it passes the realm of "in the works".

- 7 inch w/ COMPUND TERROR sounds good. should have copies available real soon. the split CDR w/ TASTE OF FEAR is available NOW. get on it.

- recent musical obsessions; Tzun Tzu, Neko Case, Integrity, Smegma, Deathpile, Ruins (Australia), Zeni Geva, Autopsy, Dead Congregation, Portal, Full Blown AIDS, My Bloody Valentine, Tombs, Antigama, Brutal Truth, Antony and the Johnsons, Outlaw Order, Slogun, Satori, Samo, Throbbing Gristle, Arkhon Infaustus, Abruptum, Cobalt, David Sylvian, Mournful Congregation

Monday, January 19, 2009

- this weekend Gary Graveyard came down and we wound up recording two of our most extreme tracks yet. i don't say "extreme" in the Jolt Cola Jason Statham double feature sense of the word, more in the sense that the two songs we did sort of represent the extreme ends of our musical spectrum.

the first track we recorded on Saturday night, entitled "MOBILE OF SYRINGES", is a roughly 20 minute harsh noise track we made up on the spot. First Lee and Jimmy recorded the sounds, which are about as bowel eroding as anything i've ever heard come out of those amps. As they were doing that, i collected 4 songs i had in my my lyric book and arranged them as best i could in accordance with what they were doing. When it was my turn, I was plugged into a big distortion peddle, which i played around with during the duration of my recording. It took a lot out of me... i used voices i didn't even know i had... and i felt a little like Peter Greene in Clean, Shaven afterwards... but it was worth it, cause the track sounds pretty awesome, and we finally got around to really exploring the noise side of things, which is something we've always hinted at, but now have fully embraced. lyrics are on the Myspace.

the second track is a complete 180 from "MOBILE OF SYRINGES"; a 20 second grindcore song entitled "CRIB DEATH FOGHORN". Gary actually used his drum machine for this one, and it sounds pretty damn good.

these two tracks (along w/ JESTER AXIS and CULT MACHINE) will be appearing on the CDR split w/ TASTE OF FEAR.

- still need a drummer.

Thursday, January 15, 2009

- still need a drummer.

- still going to record.

- looks like the 4-way split from Coagulate Tapes will finally be seeing the light of day. if all goes according to plan, we'll have some copies in time for the final Deathcycle show.

- and about that, yeah.. the last Deathcycle show. We're honored to have been asked to perform for this regretfully momentous occasion. Those who know us know the admiration we have for Deathcycle, both for their music/what it represents and who they are as individuals. Each one of the band members has a signature style that when brought together, creates something much greater than the sum of its parts. They are about as intense and pure a band as you'll ever find, but you have to look long and hard for them, especially nowadays, when you can't even muster up enough indifference to shrug your shoulders at the innocuous banality that has become of underground metal and hardcore. Deathcycle has all the passion of the most honest protest music, and the all urgency of a motorized headbutt to your very soul. we'll miss them very much.

- not much else going on. just writing... looking for a drummer. winter sucks.

- recent musical obsessions: Salome, Dead Congregation, Ruins (both the Black Metal band and the wacko Japanese group), Fifty Foot Hose, Bohren & der Club of Gore, Jennifer Gentle, Slogun, Mohinder, Dapnom, S.V.E.S.T., Hieronymus Bosch, Amber Asylum, Prostitute Disfigurement, Cheer-Accident, Clikatat Ikatowi, The Nihilist Spasm Band, Gravitar, AIDS Wolf, Malicious Hate, Visceral Evisceration, Neko Case, Throbbing Gristle, Virus, Christ Inversion, Antony and the Johnsons
